Sony Music's CD Copy Protection Schemes ContinueMake sure to check the labeling on any Sony CDs and DVDs you buy. In 2005 they made their second anti-customer CD copy protection attack. They essentially hacked customers systems by installing spyware and anti-copying software on your computer if you attempted to play one of their CDs. When they were found out and accused of hacking, they supposedly backed off the scheme. Read about it at http://www.sonylawsuit.com/. The Electronic Frontier Foundation also had coverage at http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/. |
