Is there a way on the 396 to directly enter a frequency via keypad and listen to it without storing it? For example, if I wanted to listen to a specific FM radio station, can I enter the frequency in quickly and listen without having to go to the trouble of programming a system, group or channel?
Yes. FAQ #11. You *did* read the FAQ, didn't you?

Very simple: HOLD, frequency, HOLD. (DO NOT press the enter key).
